I have always had a passion for animals and dogs in particular. My love of animals spurred me into taking a sabbatical from my day job 15 years ago to study vet science and animal behaviour at Sparsholt College Hampshire and graduated via Portsmouth University.
After rescuing three spaniels and acquiring one more I decided to offer boarding for other dogs from my dogs rescue charity.
In the years in-between this has gone from a small support service to rescues, to supporting customers of local dog walkers let down at the last minute, to having a robust client base returning time after time.
Beach2Bough continues to grow its knowledge base, training in subjects such as canine nutrition, first aid, scent work and dog training. As my passion for dogs continues, so does my drive to deliver and evolve a safe and comfortable environment for all dogs in my care.
We currently offer day and holiday boarding and limited dog walking to clients and or dogs in the local area. I am training in a number of areas behind the scenes and will be bringing additional services online in the future! So, keep an eye on the website or the Facebook page for further information.
** The Meet and Greets **
This is where I visit your home and meet you and your dog to discuss your dog’s needs and your preferences. I describe my set up and what is available, and we go over the Terms and Conditions. If both sides are happy to progress, we arrange a meet and greet at Beach2Bough’s premises.
The meet and greet at Beach2Boughs premises should be no longer than 30 mins, the owner stays with the dog and the dog is introduced to the resident dogs and is assessed for its ability to cope with the surroundings, mix successfully with the resident and boarded dogs, be safe with the resident dogs and in the environment and more importantly have fun when they are here.
Owners must understand this is primarily mine and my dogs’ home so my dogs ability to be safe from harm is my priority. The resident dogs are on the whole bouncy, friendly and most of all loud on arrival of a visiting dog. They are a mix of rescues and one non rescue. Please consider if your dog would be happy amongst high energy dogs.
** The Trial **
If the meet and greet goes well, and we are both happy that your dog will be safe and happy to stay with us we move to the trial stay.
If the intended stay is up to three nights we move forward to a day trial. If the stay is longer than three nights, it is a DEFRA licencing requirement of 5-star establishments to have an overnight trial.
With both trials the dog comes into Beach2Bough, and the owner leaves it for a period of no less than 5 hours or overnight.
During this trial period the doggo may go through playing, training, observation, it may go out for a walk (certainly will on an overnight trial).
Observations will be undertaken and matters arising will be addressed with the owner. At this point it will be decided as to whether Beach2Bough will be a good fit, and owners will be invited to make a booking (please refer to terms and conditions)
